Homework is a rediculous concept
Why is it that teachers and the messed up school system insist on pawning their own inability to teach off on us? Just because they are not able to get all they need to teach into a lesson does NOT mean that they should just be able to give us a worksheet and say “Here, figure this out on your own. Oh, and it’s worth ten percent of your grade.” Homework is essentially the downfall of most students. I would much rather spend fifteen extra minutes in each class then to have to go home and struggle with homework. I really do believe that if we did more of what we were supposed to do at home in class where there is a teacher to help us and we can do it all in a solid hour block as opposed to spending 45 minutes on a subject then having to go home 6 hours later when it’s out of our minds and do it again, then students would truly be more successful. But no. That’s waaaayyyyy too difficult. And you teachers call us students lazy.

But spellcheck isn’t.
In life, there is not always a teacher around to help you. When you work you will need to know how to find things out, research, utilize critical thinking skills, learn new programs, etc. You will have to do this by yourself- your boss can’t hold your hand. Doing homework helps you develop extremely important independent learning skills that you need in life.
I know what you mean, but that’s what studying is for. If you really want the students to be independent have them study on their own and not have graded assignments. Then a student can study as much as they feel is necessary. Make the students learning less the responsibility of of the teachers and more parents’. And when you don’t have a parent when you’re in college you should be motivated enough to do your own stuff
Homework is one of those things that we’ve bitched about since we were ten. I don’t know if it’s really all that bad though.
